I attended the opening of the new Pace Gallery in Chelsea this week, and had a great time checking out the 7 floors, including outdoor terrace with great views of Chelsea and downtown Manhattan.
The event was covered in the New York Social Diary, in a fantastic article by Jill Krementz.
Patron of the arts Arthur Lambert at Pace opening
My friend Arthur Lambert invited me, and we headed straight for his dear friend David Hockney’s exhibit of new work. The exhibit showed work he did this summer, painting his new estate in France, in the style of an old Chinese scroll. Very cool!
I was honored to meet Edith Devaney from the Royal Academy of Art, who curated David’s portrait show in London, as well as the charming Bing McGilvray, another of David’s close friends.
There were four other artists featured as well, including Loie Hollowell, whose work is pictured above with Arthur, and below with me. Unfortunately, these photos don’t do justice to the three-dimensional nature of the pieces, so you must go see for yourself.
