Remember a year ago when we could all decide to wear the same color and have a pink party? Those days are on pause, together with the city of New York and much of the world, but we can still party together (Zoom stock is skyrocketing) and it’s almost as good.
Party On… Line, That Is
Hint: When you attend a party online, watch your drinking and alternate with water. I got quite blasted during my first Zoom cocktail party, without even realizing. Just sitting and sipping, sipping, sipping for 4 hours means I consumed a lot more than I am used to!
After the obligatory round to see what everyone is drinking (Manhattans, white wine, cosmos, and straight gin seem to be the favorite beverages in my crowd), my friends demonstrated their creative bents with the scratching devices they are using to avoid face-touching. The best one: a pearl caviar spoon! It really glows in the monitor-light. My friend Alex has Russian-diva style!
What My Friends Are Doing During the Pause
Next, people shared how they are amusing themselves. I culled and curated this collection of eclectic activities:
- Take ballet class online. My beloved ballet teacher at the Joffrey Ballet School, Annastasia Mercedes, is teaching small private online classes from her Brooklyn apartment. Amazeballs!
- Track your self down on the Internet:
- My friend Shawn Curran found a director’s cut of an old movie he was in on YouTube, “Postcards from Paradise Park” (1995, Dir. Curt Crane)
- I found an old episode of MacGyver that I worked on as an extra! The “Jerico Games” episode from 1991 (Season 6, Episode 6)! On CBS All Access.
- Watch the comedy-horror “Lady of Burlesque: The G-String Murders,” starring Barbara Stanwyck (1943) on Amazon Prime and YouTube.
- Go for the laughs with The Windsors on Netflix. Season 3, just out, has plenty of Markle-mocking.
- Finally! The ravidly awaited new season of The Good Fight is out. It began on CBS All Access on April 1. Episode 3, airing on April 30, is directed by our dear friend Tess Malone!! Amazeballs!!
- Listen to A Sonnet a Day by b on Instagram (we love him!).
My To Do List During C19
Educational improvement!
- Learn to speak with a British accent by watching The Windsors.
- Learn to open chocolate bars without contamination from the outer wrapper. Eat chocolate while watching The Windsors!
- Learn British slang by watching The Windsors!
- Bog roll = TP. The Windsors are running low too!
- Ovaries before brovaries. (American equivalent: chicks before dicks.)
- Amazeballs!
Aaaaaaawwwww, lovely to see our spoon party featured!!! ❤️
I need to check out your MacGyver episode!
The hair is hilarious! It is very 80s, thought it’s filmed in 1991. You’ll get a laugh!
What did I do with my caviar spoon! Horrors!
So low rent! haha
What a fun read! 🙂
Glad you liked it! 🙂
